The May 28, 2016 rally kicked off with Maria Espinoza, a “liberty-loving Latina” and former Texas GOP congressional candidate from Houston, took the podium and spoke before the billionaire walked on stage. She called for tougher borders to stop illegal immigration and linked it to criminal activity.
“You must vote to make America safe again,” she said, and continued: “You must vote to make America great again.” Espinoza’s words “…make America safe again!” represented the very first time this variation of the famous Trump slogan “Make America Great Again!” was ever captured in a Trump rally, or anywhere else, for that matter.
The crowd responded by chanting “Trump! Trump! Trump!”
